NewsUpdated 17/12/07 Future PlansJanus Theatre Company is currently dormant and has no immediate plans to present any future productions. Mephistopheles SmithDuring 2007 Janus Theatre Company toured Richard O'Brien's 'Mephistopheles Smith', taking it to Brighton and Edinburgh Fringe Festivals, Reading and Guidford. 'Mephistopheles Smith', backed up with his two ‘Devilettes’, is the Evangelist For Hell - preaching about the virtues of living in Hell through witty comparison with life today. The show features Richard O'Brien's brilliant original songs and lyrics (listen at www.rockymusic.org) and was initially performed as a 3 song version by Richard O’Brien himself at the 1992 UK Rocky Horror Convention. The full show then previewed at Edinburgh Fringe in 1995 and went on to run at The Comedy Theatre in London’s West End in 1996. Janus Theatre Company were the first ever UK theatre group to re-stage Mephistopheles Smith, with Richard O’Brien’s personal permission to re-work and perform the show in 2007. The show was a huge success, ending in Reading to a packed house and standing ovations. What an amazing night! We received many positive comments both from fans, first timers, former cast members and the original writers. Thanks to everyone who came along. We had an amazing time putting on the show and it was great to see so many of you enjoying it. A HUGE thank-you to everyone involved for all your hard work and assistance. Check out www.saucyjackandthespacevixens.co.uk for full details, as well as the Saucy Jack page under Productions. Hedwig And The Angry InchOctober 2005 saw us perform 'Hedwig And The Angry Inch' to sell out houses in Newbury, Guildford, Brighton and Reading during our 'Wicked Little Towns Tour'. In response to public demand following rave reviews and standing ovations throughout, we were invited back to Guildford's Yvonne Arnaud Theatre and our tour culminated in January 2006 with two explosive performances on the main stage. Featuring breathtaking lighting and pyrotechnics, stunning new artwork by Georgie Tier and a talented cast with unparalleled performance by ND Garrison as Hedwig, we rocked the packed Yvonne Arnaud Theatre like it had never been rocked before! Definitely the pinnacle to an amazing journey throughout the past few years with 'Hedwig' and a fantastic experience for everyone involved - that night, watching the whole audience 'lift up your hands' and giving standing ovations at the end, certainly made everyone's hard work, time and preparation worthwhile. Reviews, audience comments and images from the show can be found here. The show website - featuring a gallery of images from the Yvonne Arnaud Theatre - is at www.hedwigandtheangryinch.co.uk. |
